Eliminating distracting background noise during a Zoom conference

  1. In the Zoom desktop client, click the profile picture and then Settings.

  2. Select the Sound tab .

  3. In the Background Noise Reduction section, select the desired noise reduction level:

    • Auto: This setting is the default and provides moderate background noise reduction when needed. It automatically adjusts the background noise reduction level according to the detected sounds. If music is detected, it is not suppressed as background noise.

    • Low: Minimal noise reduction. The program will slightly suppress constant background noise. Note: This setting is best suited for casual music playback, as it minimizes distortion of the original sound. To maximize the fidelity of the music, you can also use the Enable Original Sound option in the Advanced Sound Settings.

    • Medium: optimal for muffling and eliminating background noise in standard environments: fan sounds, knob tapping, etc.

    • High: With this setting, the program will suppress noise as much as possible, eliminating sounds such as rustling paper or wrappers, keystrokes on the keyboard, etc. Note: Enabling this setting may increase the load on the processor.
